Carvedilol is a third-generation, non-cardio selective β-blocker that used to treat various cardiovascular disorders like hypertension, angina pectoris and congestive heart failure. The aim of this research work was to enhance the solubility of carvedilol by using solid dispersion method and to formulate a mouth dissolving tablet by taking carvedilol as model drug. Solid dispersions of carvedilol were prepared by using the different ratios of PVP using solvent evaporation technique. To characterize the enhancement of solubility, in-vitro release study of solid dispersions was done in SGF without enzyme and phosphate buffer (PH 6.8) indicating 100% drug release. The solid dispersions were directly compressed into tablet using different superdisintegrants like crospovidone, sodium starch glycolate, croscarmellosesodium and polacrilin potassium in different concentration. Before the compression of tablet, the power blends are evaluated for preformulation study. The properties of tablet such as hardness, wetting time, in-vitro dispersion time, in-vitro disintegration time and in-vitro dissolution were investigated to elucidate the characteristics of tablet....
